The Newcastle Blasters overcame an early washout to grab a place in the Plan B Regional Bash Twenty20 finals at the SCG on December 10.

The Blasters were the only undefeated side in the Maitland Conference which saw the Illawarra Flames, Hunter Hitmen and Central Coast Rush all win one match.

After a washout on Saturday against the Rush, the Blasters easily beat the Flames and the Hitmen on Sunday to progress to the Sixers Conference final.

Last season the Blasters lost the Sixers Conference final at the SCG to Northern Rivers Rock while two years ago the Newcastle boys were knocked out of the tournament in the second round by the Flames.

This is the first season where the competition is being played as a round robin to quality for the finals.

In a big finals day at the SCG the two leadings teams in the Sixers Conference and the two leading teams in the Thunder Conference will play off in conference finals before the two winners go through to compete for the Plan B Regional Bash title.

The Thunder Conference will kick off at 2pm this Saturday in a match between Riverina rivals Border Bullets, featuring former New Zealand fast bowler Darryl Tuffey, and the Wagga Wagga Sloggers, at Bilson Park, Albury.
