Rain sends Orana Outlaws to SCG for Plan B Regional Bash final

Reigning Plan B Regional Bash champions the Orana Outlaws have automatically qualified for the Sydney Thunder Conference Final after rain ruined last weekend’s round-robin in Orange.

The Outlaws will now play the Wagga Wagga sloggers at the SCG on December 10 as part of a triple header, with the winner meeting the winner of the Sydney Sixers conference in the Plan B Regional Bash final under lights on the hallowed turf.

The Newcastle Blasters have already qualified for the Sixers Conference Final and will meet the leading team from the remaining Sixers pool.

That will take place in a fortnight at Coffs Harbour between the Coffs Coast Chargers, Macquarie Coast Stingers, Northern Inland Bolters and Northern Rivers Rock.

The ACT Aces had already played their first Thunder Pool 2 match last month, easily beating the South Coast Crew. It was the Aces only victory during the three-year history of the competition.

However the Saturday night and Sunday matches involving the Outlaws, Aces, Crews and Central West Wranglers were unable to be played because of rain.

This meant that with only one of the six matches completed, the highest placed team from last season progressed to the Thunder Conference Final.

As the title winner last season, the decision for the Outlaws to progress was clear cut.

Playing conditions state that if 50 per cent of matches are not played, then the highest finishing side of the previous season moves through to the conference final.
